That’s my sister Jenni. She and I drove to Lexington to visit Judi, who took us to Cindy’s house to see her pink bathroom. Following that? A road trip. To see a pink bathroom. The bathroom was really quite lovely — Cindy had decorated it in a way that I describe as “timeless.” Not kitschy, although I have no problem with that whatsoever. She took this other route, mixing Victoriana, Maine pottery, delicate floral wallpaper — and even a Hello Kitty — in an eclectic mix that was … just her own. I wrote a complete post about the visit on my other site here.

Hi Debbie, I’ll think about it!

Is there any wall art or plaques that say “Save the Pink Bathroom”? I’d love to hang one in my 1950’s pink bathroom. Thanks!

I did find one aspect of pink bathrooms overlooked here: the wall mounted metal hampers. Many were produced by the Columbia metal box company. It’s difficult nowadays finding one with original paint (mine does because it was protected by periodic waxing with car wax throughout its life). All these original bathroom have such interesting details, and the tiles were set in plaster walls. It’s always a pity to see them ripped out and replaced with sheetrock walled “improvements” or even fiberglass fake tiled walls which won’t last as long as a Fifties bathroom which the ignorant owners disdained simply because they’re “dated” looking.

So glad I found this site. I’m in the process of buying a 1963 home with a pink bathroom!
